#Subsonic 223 vs 300 blackout plus#
I just haven't made the decision plus I don't know where to get started on selling/trading them lol.A few years ago, I finally sold the M1A Scout that my wife bought me in the 90s. Even with all the crap Custom II would give me for getting rid of my M14. I've even thought about not only selling or trading my 556R but my M14 as well. I'll be happy to see other options appear, though: the MCX and 556xi come to mind.

300 BLK cartridge enough that I added an AR to the arsenal, because it is the natural platform for the round. And I don't really want to go to Wal-Mart anyway. (Though I hear that is changing.) But if you can just stock the pantry with 5k rounds of ammo, then it really doesn't matter whether you can get it at Wal-Mart. Some people bemoan the fact that you can't find it on the shelves at Wal-Mart. Good ammo in either cartridge is comparable in price.Īvailability is really just another economic issue. 300 BLK is the availability and price of plinking ammo. The only criteria where the 7.62x39 defeats the. If you're not wedded to a particular platform then, it's down to economics and flexibility, which Gabe and others have already covered well. So if you have a real strong attachment to one platform or the other, that may make your choice of caliber, at least for now. 300 in other platforms, but at this point I think those are mere curiosities (at least until some manufacturer starts making them on a large scale). There are gunsmiths out there chambering the. It really is an AR platform caliber at the moment. By choosing 7.62x39 you are effectively choosing an AK type rifle or it's close cousin the 556R (possibly the PTR-32, I haven't really heard how well the 2nd gen guns are working out). While their are ARs in 7.62x39, I have never really been all that impressed by any of the offerings. The one thing that I would add is that by picking a round you are also effectively picking a platform.

I think that others have spoken well about the pros and cons of the rounds themselves. I just haven't made the decision plus I don't know where to get started on selling/trading them lol. Like 8 inches down and left huge plus the groups go from rounds on top of each other to a spread almost off the target. The point of impact between Hornady SST and anything steel cased is huge at only 100 yards. 300 and that it pretty much costs the same as quality x39 with more options. Add in the fact that there is a lot more options in ammo for. Let alone the fact I can get 6 different types of ammo for it down the street at Cabelas. Last I knew that was the major thing people were using as THE metric on. 300 is even showing up in walmarts in my area. My 556R is awesome and I can easily hit 600 yards with it using Hornady SST but at the same time I can do the same thing with my friends Recce in. I have been going back and forth for the last few months on weather or not change platforms. The last year and a half or so I have had the chance to shoot some Teir 1 AR's in 5.56 and. Sadly these aren't made any longer, the much heavier Model 700 (heavy barrel) continues though. To that end I have concentrated my 300BLK armory around the Remington/AAC Model 7 bolt action. The HEAVY Subsonic rounds are the real gold of the cartridge (at least for now). At some point I may accept supersonic 300Blk as a replacement for x39 in a fighting rifle, but for now I see its real use as a suppressed round. If theres any real issue in my mind about 300Blk, its the two vastly different types of loadings. Thankfully its popularity continues to rise and with that so is its availability. That being said 300Black is a far better prospect IF you can afford to run it and IF you can keep a steady supply. So if cost is a factor AND you understand its limitations then x39 is not to be ignored. Assuming youre willing to use them within that range or less, x39 is a pretty reliable cartridge in even the cheaper AKs. AKs, yes even the cheap ones will still do what a AK was designed to do-KILL Humans out to 300m. FIRST Im still heavy into x39 both in weapons and ammo, so Im a bit jaded.
